three-in-a-row-tuition today.
thus no G12 session 1 and 2 for me. :(((
thanks, Timothy for going!
i am excited for u!
today was,
"Your people will rebuild the ancient ruins and will raise up the age-old foundations; you will be called Repairer of Broken Walls, Restorer of Streets with Dwellings." - Isaiah 58:12
first thing that came to mind was charlie bird the engineer.
haha!
repairing walls, restoring streets.
it suddenly dawned upon me that they are in fact very leh-cheh things to do.
the simple text belies the actual physical experience.
my army phase may be over, but i somehow felt the essence of the message for me was sai kang. which translated directly, and crudely, is faeces work. or in layman terms, troublesome work that no one is willing to do or would only perform reluctantly if strongly forced to do so.
i felt that the call for me was pertaining to the hassles of life. even when God prompts us to do something troublesome, do we give excuses to siam, or do we comply albeit reluctantly?
WHICH one are u?
the Siamer
the Siamer is the master of camouflage and evasion. he has stealth-like abilities which make him hard to detect. arrows shot at him always misses his flexible frame. his body is slick and slippery and incapable of grasp. when cornered, he throws a smoke grenade from his inexhaustible supply and then escapes amidst the confusion.
the Complain King
the Complain King is not necessarily skilled in linguistic ability, but a common trend is that they all make a din which can be detected a kilometre away. the haughtier of the lot are trained in verbal assault and the higher level ones are gifted with the ability to out-speak almost anyone. when threatened, they use complicated jargon to confuse their enemies. they are highly influential and thus a very potent threat.
the Suck-It-Up Man
the Suck-It-Up Man complies with instruction but is almost always disagreeable. he is silently defiant, but conceals this very well. he would be obligated to "aiya just do it la" and then pile on the injustice he felt he has suffered. he is very disgruntled and may perceive himself to be always made use of. if left unchecked, he might progress to the Time Bomb.
the Time Bomb
the Time Bomb is closely related to the Suck-It-Up Man, and often, they share common traits. the Time Bomb, however, is a deadlier threat due to his explosive nature when provoked to his limit. seemingly patient, he is usually calm and collected and would thus surprise even his closest peers when he erupts all of a sudden without warning.
the Garang Chiongster
the Garang Chiongster shares the same passion as a soldier on fire. he volunteers for everything even when he knows it isn't within his capability. his wild antics sometimes annoys others and thus he will not mix well with peers who do not share the same vision as he, as they would be unsupportive but instead question his ulterior motives.
yes, i apologise, the above was done in jest.
but do some of u identify slightly with any of the characters at some point?
have u harboured feelings of injustice or have felt disgruntled but do not know it?
i personally have, at times, felt hesitant about doing stuff the Lord has prompted me about.
if i need time to clarify the motives and my purpose, then, fine.
but sometimes it is in rather blatant stuff that i catch myself.
stuff like helping an old lady with her shopping basket. or stuff like talking to someone.
oh dear.
do WE have to do self-inspection today?
APPLICATION: OBEY the very next prompting, and all that is to come, from the Lord.
as shangus am has said, "how can we ask the Lord to speak to us when we don't even want to obey him when he does?"
indeed.
Lord, help me not to neglect your voice! if i truly want to know you, then first i submit to you. your direction, your prompting; you are Lord in my life, you are Lord of my circumstance. feel free to interrupt my life, Lord. your will and not mine be done.
amen.
