Today i was like any other day for the past 2 months. i cycle to work and sit @ this spot, take out my bible, turn to proverbs and read.
It was interesting that halfway my friend came over to sit. And at that moment i was trying to understand Proverbs 6:10-11
"A little sleep, a little slumber; a little folding of arms to rest - and poverty will come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man"
the part about "come on you like a bandit and scarcity like an armed man"
So i just turned and asked him. Hey whats the meaning of scarcity? and what does it mean scarcity like an armed man. So being quite a learned guy, he went on to explain it literally although he is a non-believer. what an interesting situation that was...
Anyhow anyway... i realised the emphasized(which means its important to note) word is LITTLE.
It doesnt say: you sleep, you slumber alot, you fold your arms to rest all the time and poverty will..
The key word is little although if we are convicted of the latter, its definitely worse!
I think there are alot of areas this can be drawn into. Our work, our bible reading time... Is there any areas that we are becoming lazy in? i have to ask myself that question. and probably you would need to too!
