steadfastness

everytime i fall away
my life is thrown into disarray
i'd hate myself for not standing firm
and slipping back into the doldrums

today: deut 33, 34

34:10
since then, no prophet has risen in Israel like moses, whom the Lord knew face to face, 11 who did all those miraculous signs and wonders the Lord sent him to do in Egypt--to Pharaoh and to all his officials and to his whole land. 12 For no one has ever shown the mighty power or performed the awesome deeds that Moses did in the sight of all Israel.

what made Moses so great?
at first he was timid, he didn't trust God to help him speak, and God sent Aaron to help him.
and when Miriam and Aaron opposed him, what they got was leprosy.
God came down and showed himself to Moses.

because?
he honoured God
availed his life to God
risked getting arrested (for murder--for that matter for speaking out-of-line with pharaoh)
risked public disgrace
risked being seen as a loony (what if he was just imagining things?
he led a pure life(if the high priest would be struck down before the ark if he was just a tiny bit unclean, how much more moses, who was FACE TO FACE with God, had to be absolutely spotless? thats what i call leading by example)

if indeed the great men of the past are models for us to emulate, and even surpass, my do we have big shoes to fill.

lord make my heart fertile
aye, and steadfast too
that i may live and prosper and prolong your days in the land that you will possess.
