Everyday as I pray, sometimes it becomes a routine to confess and ask for forgiveness for things that I have done that might not have been approving in God's sight. Just like any form of earthly worship to the Lord, our offerings will never be able to cleanse us once and for all.
"because it is impossible for the blood of bulls and goats to take away sins."
Hebrews 10: 4
Only by the selfless sacrifice of Jesus Christ are we able to come before the Lord and pray for the forgiveness of our sins. Only by the blood of Christ, are we able to come before the Lord and offer our praise and worship. It is all by the work of Jesus, who came to die for us that has given us this freedom!
Hebrews 10:5 - 7
Therefore, when Christ came into the world, he said:
"Sacrifice and offereing you did not desire, but a body you prepared for me;
with burnt offerings and sin offerings you were not pleased. Then I said, 'Here I am - it is written about me in the scroll - I have come to do your will. O God' "
And because of this sacrifice, "we have been made holy through the sacrifice of the body of Jesus Christ once for all." (10:10)
The Holy Spirit has this to say about Jesus' sacrifice for us, and His words reveals to me the magnitude of what Jesus has done for me on the cross.
He says: "Their sins and lawless acts I will remember no more.
And where these have been forgiven, there is no longer any
sacrifice for sin."
God's lesson for me today is to understand first His sacrifice for me. And that I come to Him only because of His great love for me. I have been inspired to dwell further into the book of Hebrews! Stay tuned for more of God's words of revelation!
