" The Ninevites believed God. They declared a fast, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth. " - Jonah 3:5
believe God.
we all do. or are supposed to.
but do we, really, really really BELIEVE God?
HOW does one measure belief?
simple: by action.
"They declared a fast, and all of them, from the greatest to the least, put on sackcloth."
if i told u that the sky was going to rain BEN&JERRY'S ice cream tomorrow, and u really really truly believed me, what would u do?
i think u would gather as many pails and buckets as u can find and lay them out in the open to collect as much ice cream goodness as possible.
if u hadn't done that, then chances are u doubted what i said. "where got.. as if.. siao ah.."
our actions belie our belief.
Scripture tells us that ALL of them put on sackcloth.
it teaches us something about CORPORATE BELIEF.
Scripture specified that all included both the GREATEST and the LEAST.
it teaches us something about HUMILITY.
but for now,
if we want to ask God for miracles,
if we want to see God's healing,
if we want to experience God's power,
let us ask believing. truly BELIEVING.
and let our belief translate into a life of ACTION.
this calls for faith.
when praying for the lame, we have to BELIEVE by ACTION - asking him to stand and walk.
when studying for exams, we BELIEVE we will score well by ACTION - continuing to devote our time to God in full assurance of our results.
MY APPLICATION: praying for my tuition kid, Shalom, truly believing that he will be healed - translated into action by asking him later to see if he can perform a task previously impossible.
let us truly learn to BELIEVE in God.
